Summertime Infused Water

lavender cucumber and mint infused water

Hey guys! 🙂 Here to talk about summer, all of it’s sweetness and infused water!  Summertime is in full swing and it is sooo hot and humid here in NH.  Recently, I have been getting the worse headaches and I honestly think it is because I am not drinking enough water.  The heat sucks up all your lil body’s water!!… not nice. I am home for the summer and am loving the clean well water we have (if you live in a city you better not be drinking your sink water! this is a theory I have by the way, I have been told city water is in fact very clean… but I beg to differ..)  After living in LA for the past year I forgot how special it was to have clean backyard water filled with all those sparkly minerals.

I’ve loveddd infused waters for such a long time!  Since it’s hard for me to remember to drink enough water throughout the day, I have tried many ways to remind myself.  Get a fancy water bottle, get another fancy but also cute water bottle, straw! two straws!! timer on my phone, seriously lots of things.  BUT what I have found that works as a good reminder is when the water is yummy.  When my water is tasty I notice myself actually looking forward to drinking it AND refilling my glass (or cute and fancy bottle) throughout the day.  Not only is infused water super tasty but it is also really good for you.

There are a lot of ways to make your water a little more exciting but this is one of my favorites (besides your good ol’ lemon wedge.)  So, if you’re like me and don’t drink enough water… or even if you aren’t like me and DO drink enough water, you all should try out this little summertime infusion

What you will need:

// a glass, water, ice (optional), fresh mint leaves, fresh lavender stems (or dried), 4- 8 cucumber slices

First, get yourself a clear glass (sometimes I drink this from a wine glass for fun, my FAVORITE is here) so you can see all your yummies inside!

Next, rub the fresh mint leaves between your fingers (this will extract the mint flavor without you having to tear up the leaves (I choked on that so learn from me.)) Put the leaves at the bottom of the glass.

Place your ice cubes over the leaves and put in half of your cucumber slices.  I suggest using persian cucumbers because they are smaller, have a thinner skin and wayy less seeds.

Fill your glass with water and place the rest of your cucumber slices on top.

Rub the lavender stems in your fingers to extract the amazinggg smell.  Place the stems in your glass and give it a stir! If you are using dried lavender – boil it, strain the flowers, and let the water cool.  Add the lavender infused water to your glass as preferred to taste.

In a few minutes you will be able to taste all of the refreshing ingredients.  What is so great too about this infused water is that you can add to your water throughout the day!  The flavors last so long and nothing gets all gross and soggy like citrus (don’t get me wrong.. LOVE citrus an absurd amount but you know what I mean by that soggy effect after too long..bleh.)

Benefits of this infused water!!

Mint: improves headaches, aids digestion, freshens breath and also has a little vitamin A!

Cucumber: adds to your hydration which helps flush out toxins, contains vitamin A, B & C and also contains silica which is a wonder mineral that support hair and nail health.

Lavender: incredibly relaxing and helps reduce the feeling of stress and anxiety, aids sleep if consumed before bed.

Let me know what you think and if you have any other “must try” infused water creations!
