A few weeks ago I took a trip to Joshua Tree with two of my girlfriends, Clea and Jade 🙂 They are absolutely the best and we had such a fun time! We all soo badly needed to get away for a bit and this was seriously the most perfect way to do so! Joshua Tree has quickly become one of my favorite places. If you haven’t been I highly suggest you plan a trip there soon. There is lots to do in the park and what I love about this national park in particular is that you can really pull over anywhere and explore! There is something extremely peaceful about the desert and I just love all the plants (the cactus plants… ah!!), little animals, quite and all that space! It’s so refreshing. Another thing I love about Joshua Tree is that when you enter the actual park there is no cell service. You have no choice but to just BE there. It’s so great.
The three of us did a lot of adventuring and hiking in the park but for the most part didn’t have our phones, so these pics are from a little shoot we had at the Airbnb we stayed at outside of the park. I loveee airbnb’s by the way! I have never had a bad experience, this one however, is for sure one of my favorites! It was incredibly clean, had everything we needed to cook and be cozy, was decorated soo stinkin cute and seriously felt like another world – pure paradise! It’s called Cactus Mountain and you can take a look at their insta here to get more of a feel for how amazing it is!! I mean come on, just look at this view!!
The entire time I was in Joshua Tree, inside and outside of the park, I kept being more and more blown away by how beautiful, simple and peaceful everything was. I felt so happy and I can’t wait to go back there sometime soon 🙂 At some point I think I really would love to have a desert house! With tons of cozy blankies and lawn chairs and hammocks so you can sleep under the stars.
I didn’t capture any pictures at night because I feel like images just don’t do the stars justice. At night we all put our phones down and watched the stars for so long, it was such a surreal feeling… just looking up at the stars showering down on us. There are no city lights to obstruct the stars from shining down and saying hello. There were soo many of them, it looked like the sparkliest glitter I have ever seen just spilled all over the sky. I felt like it was a moment that was so special and I wanted to remember it forever. Do you ever have those moments?? ha. Watching the stars puts so many things into perspective. Stress, worries, sadness, life… we are all just little star dust babies dancing on this earth and I think we all just need to remember that… regardless of what you believe, we come from the same place, we all deserve love.
While we were at cactus mountain I found this book on the shelf! It caught my eye and I started flipping through it. We all loved it so much that we ordered it immediately so it would arrive at our apartments when got back. We definitely were making up our own interpretation of the book haha but I found it so inspirational and just felt perfect for some “deep thought” thinking haha. One of my favorite quotes from the book:
“… and it is from this place in our heart cave where we are now. we watch the entire drama that is our lives. we watch with the illusion with unbearable compassion”
Besides exploring and climbing all over the rocks in the park, we relaxed and spent the weekend making tasty food and just being so silly. We made this super yum lemon pasta dish, inspired by Chrissy Teigen of course.
On the last day there we decided to take in the last little bit of the desert love and paint for a bit. Clea had brought all her supplies and we were so happy she did! We just sat in the middle of the desert, squirted out a bunch of colors and painted. I am not the greatest painter and I was’t particularly in love with anything I made haha but it was so much fun I didn’t care :p
