New York City Flea Market

This past weekend I went to New York City for the first time in soo long! Since being home in New Hampshire for the summer (before I venture back to socal… you can read about that here.)  I am trying my best to do as many east coast things as possible. I absolutely love summers on the east coast… you simply can’t beat them. Between Portsmouth, Boston, Cape Cod, Burlington, and everything Maine… it is the loveliest place to be.  Living is peaceful and simple, the world is green and clean, the air smells good after it rains and the stars are heavenly. If you’ve been, you know what I am talking about.  So, while New England will always have my heart, last weekend New York City stole it.

The entire time I was there I pretty much just pretended I was Charlotte from Sex and the City.  She is my ALL time favorite tv character, partially because that entire show is one of my favorites and also because I find her so relatable :’) every time I rewatch the show it makes me sad to think about the fact that she isn’t real and we can’t be friends!!

My mom and I spent the weekend in the city and had the best time! We checked out the Brooklyn Flea Market, and I highly recommend it!

Flea Market Finds:

♥  Vintage Gucci sunglasses. I have been wanting a pair like this style for so long. They are so cute and so 90’s and have simple little details and I just love it! I was excited to find them in the tortoise because I was only seeing them in black. There are some on Ebay and Poshmark if you are looking!

♥  Levi shorts. Levi’s last so long and are such a classic. I loved the wash on these and the worn back pocket.

♥  This red NYC skyline print. I plan to hang it with my pink LA one (LOVE all of Capricorn Press art.) Recently loving red and pink together!!

♥  This to die for pink mug, I have only a few mugs, most of them are pink. I also think everything tastes better out of a wine glass or a mug! another favorite mug I use all the time.

This was one of the better flea markets I have ever been to (also love this one in LA.)  What I loved about the Brooklyn one is that it had an awesome variety of authentic vintage things, clothes (imported gems, vintage, thrift and new/repurposed)  food and art vendors! It was in such a cool location – under the Brooklyn bridge, it was walking distance to the waterfront and was near other places to stop and eat. I love people watching in cities haha, anyone else with me? It’s so nice to watch people go about their days and just enjoy the area they are in and the people they are with! so cute. After spending most of the afternoon at the market, we stopped for pizza at Front Street Pizza which was so yum after walking around all day! If you are in New York City, I’d suggest going! It was quick and easy and tasty, it’s on the corner of Front St. and Washington St.  After that we made our way to Matchabar to get a drink before we drove home. I didn’t realize that there is also one in LA! So I will have to check it out when I go back. I got the iced matcha with coconut water and it was seriously so great! I love matcha and have recently started making it myself and experimenting with a few other ingredients. The purest coconut water is actually pink, (amazing, I know!!) you should try this one, you can get it at Whole Foods.  You can see a little of the pink at the bottom of my drink in the picture below.

Random things I was thinking while walking around NYC:

how cool it would be to live in a brick apartment with a door stoop to decorate and IVY ALL OVER THE WALLS!!

what the frick frack these cobblestone streets were not made by a pal with women’s heels in mind.

I wonder what Charlotte would think of this flea market, she’d probably hate the dust.

I could SO live here! Could I live here?! Yes! No? Yes, maybe, for a little while. FOREVER! never. Ok, I’ll just visit.
