Here we go! The first stop of the grand USA road trip. Beautiful New York City. New York City… all I have to say is that I am in LOVE with you. Take a peek at this post to catch up on why I did this trip and read a few road trip tips! Anyway… If you have not been to NYC then I highly suggest putting it on your list soon. I have been to the city a handful of times and hope to go back in the fall either this year or next. Fall is my ABSOLUTE favorite season and you just don’t get that amazing fall feeling here in Southern California. This trip confirmed for me one things: I want to live in NYC at some point in my life. Between being able to walk everywhere, the history, the art, the fashion, the people, central park… there is something so inspirational about the city that I truly can’t explain! You’ll just have to go and see what I mean for yourself π
We spent 2 nights in Manhattan, near the theatre district.Β On Friday night we kicked off our adventure by seeing Wicked. Wicked might be my favorite musical (although extremely hard to pick.) The show never gets old, and is more stunning every time I see it… when in New York you must see a show. After the show we were dead tired from our work week but excitement totally had us going! haha. We walked around and found a rooftop bar. I wish I remembered the name because I highly recommend it! If you are familiar with the city it was about 2 blocks right out of the Gershwin Theatre (the theatre that has hosted Wicked for years.) The bar itself was casual and you could see a sparkling night view of the city skyline.
After we danced our bums off we realized we hadn’t eaten that day! Does that ever happen to you?? You are so busy and caught up in being so excited that all of a sudden you’re like omg wait I am STARVING!! help. We found some classic NYC style pizza and all I have to say is it did not disappoint. I mean just look at that picture…
On Saturday morning we had bagels and coffee at ToastiesΒ and then made our way to Top of the Rock, usually I try to avoid touristy things, but this was so incredible. Whether it is your first or your fiftieth time seeing this view, I highly doubt it stops taking your breath away! From there we made a stop at Joe & the Juice and relaxed for a bit before walking around a street market. I could spend all my weekends at street markets! I love all the colors, the artists and the smells.. especially that roasted corn smell! yum.
After we enjoyed the day exploring the city streets we treated ourselves to the most amazing sushi dinner. I was in charge of finding the place to eat, so the pressure was on. I’m simply the worst at making up my mind and usually pick bad restaurants! But this place was absolutely UNREAL. We both felt like we went to sushi heaven… between the food itself and the overall experience, it was better than excellent. The restruant is called Sushi Yasuda and it was life changing. Every time we were hungry on the rest of the trip we craved that sushi.. ah wish I was there now!
Do you ever have those days where you are just extremely happy the entire time? Nothing is worrying you and your heart is as full as it could be? Well, that’s the day we had. Β As we walked back to the hotel that night, I fell more in love with NYC and pretended I was Charlotte York, of course π The next morning we adventured all around Central Park! Check back for a post dedicated to Central Park – I decided it was too much to squeeze into here.
